We spent the afternoon plotting a tentative route in a general direction that we'll probably take once we get off the Trace. It felt more productive than it sounds!
Kenny and I aren't detailed planners when it comes to traveling. We don't make camping reservations (unless it's at a national park during the busy season) because it's more fun to enjoy the trip as it comes than stick to an itinerary.

For instance, you will probably see a place that boasts that they have the best BBQ in the world, and you don't know the next time you'll be in Middle of Nowhere, Tennessee, so you stop for dinner there and camp close by instead of 50 miles down the road like you'd planned. Or, like today, when instead of hitching up and leaving as was written in the planner, we decided to stay another day at our campground because we were already exactly where we wanted to be.
We had hoped to start this year with a generator so we could do more remote and free camping - what RVers call boondocking. But, our van getting stolen ate a lot of our savings and we're on to Plan B (see, you really never know what's going to happen!).
We're still aiming for Arizona like we'd planned before the van got stolen, but without the generator. So far, we've been comfortably boondocking for up to five days at a time before we need to recharge our trailer battery and devices, dump and refill our tanks, and take a proper shower (I know, this last one is questionable).
Our tentative route will take us down the rest of the Natchez Trace, across Texas, along the bottom of New Mexico, and right into Arizona where we can happily hike and sunbathe the rest of winter away. By the middle of March, we'll be back in Grand Junction to hangout before starting our job for the summer.
And that's the plan.
For now.
